Traditional Textiles
Traditional Textiles comprises two main components:
(1)Textile Materials
(2) Processes and Textile Design.
In the Materials & Processes segment, students immerse themselves in dyeing, printing, and painting techniques using silk and cotton. They develop proficient technical skills in immersion dyeing techniques, as well as direct painting and blending colors onto fabric. Emphasizing the principal languages of traditional arts and color harmony, this component encourages exploration of dyes, mordants, and other related elements.
The Textile Design component integrates skills from Geometry and Biomorphic Design to create repeating patterns and printing blocks.
